LCC Summer Missions Initiative

LCC Summer Missions Initiative
Program Description

The Loudonville Community Church (LCC) Summer Missions Initiative (SMI) was conceived to provide college age individuals with an opportunity to explore God’s will for their lives by making innovative, short-term missions opportunities a reality.  Young men and women are encouraged to apply if they are seriously considering full-time Christian service outside of the U.S. or to minority groups within the country as a long-term vocation.

As presently conceived, the application process will involve an SMI evaluation committee which will select two individuals annually who have submitted proposals for front-line Christian missions-related work covering periods from 5 to 12 weeks in length during the months of June through September.  The fellowship includes a stipend of $400 per week to help offset lost earnings, as well as reimbursement for anticipated expenses related to the missions trip.  The grants can be up to $15,000 each, depending upon the stipend and anticipated expenses included in the successful applications.  Expenses that generally qualify for funding by the SMI include transportation to and from the site, lodging, meals, and miscellaneous expenses related to the project.

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met for an applicant’s proposal to be considered:
  • Be at least 18 years and less than 28 years of age by March 1 of the year for which the application is being made.
  • Regularly attend LCC, or have attended LCC regularly before going to an out-of-area college.
  • Be a dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ and in good standing in the LCC community, and (if applicable) in good academic standing at one's educational institution.
  • The period of the fellowship should be between 35 and 84 days in length, and the proposal must amount to $15,000 or less including the $400 per week stipend.
  • The project must involve front-line Christian missions work, and is not intended for staff or training positions.  The project must take place outside of the fifty states of the U.S. or among members of a minority group within the fifty states of the U.S.
  • The application and all required materials must be submitted to the LCC Director of Missions.
